Reggie Watts New Album Out May 18th

Sunday, April 25th, 2010

Reggie Watts takes his voice and turns it into full blown (often funny) and profound audio symphonies. His vocal sampling talents boggle the mind and definitely prickle the little hairs in the less used parts of the ears. You could probably have a whole day’s worth of Reggie Watts entertainment by watching the plethora of videos on Vimeo and Youtube.

Romance is afoot in tracks like “I Just Want To” and “Sugar Got it Going On“, and his live show is not to be missed. His new album, called “Why S*** So Crazy“, will be out on May 18th.

The below video gives an extensive introduction into his philosophy, expert knob twiddling, and even some robot dancing:

A Fresh Face on the Height of Rome

Saturday, April 24th, 2010

In this first video of a four part historical retrospective on Rome in the first century, Rome rises under Caesar Augustus‘ compassion and violence. This miniseries is part of PBS‘s Empires series, a program that brings life and vivid imagining capabilities to periods of time that would otherwise seem much farther away. All four parts of this series provide a wide range of historical data in a format that keeps it interesting for the viewer.

Topics covered in the other Empires miniseries include The Kingdom of David, The Medici, Ancient Japan, and Martin Luther.

Heaven Is A Place Where Nothing Ever Happens

Friday, April 23rd, 2010

There is an amazing op-ed piece on the origins and pan-religious concept of Heaven. The article cover the dubious origins and recent invention of heaven, it’s place in the human subconscious, and the unrecognizability of different cultures’ heavens.

“The secret is, there is no secret.”

Space News

Friday, April 23rd, 2010

Yesterday the Air Force launched a secret space plane, the X-37B, with no specified return date.

With the lack of specificity expected from a classified program, and without a translator, the Air Force described the X-37B program as “a flexible space test platform to conduct various experiments and allow satellite sensors, subsystems, components and associated technology to be efficiently transported to and from the space environment. This service directly supports the Defense Department’s technology risk-reduction efforts for new satellite systems. By providing an ‘on-orbit laboratory’ test environment, it will prove new technology and components before those technologies are committed to operational satellite programs.”

Meanwhile, NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory is taking some incredible videos and photos of the Sun and it’s massive plasma eruptions.

Groucho’s “Artsy”

Tuesday, April 20th, 2010

This music video is by The Grouch, and is the original track for the song glitched out by The Glitch Mob (Ooah, Boreta, and Edit) a while back. Whether or not you’ve heard of remix or The Grouch, check this video out for some conscious hip hop and a precise look at a familiar social scene.
