DMT: The Spirit Molecule is a fascinating documentary about dimethyltriptamine (DMT) a chemical endogenously produced by the human pineal gland. The DMT experience is most commonly described with one word: ‘ineffable’.
The foremost authorities on dimethyltriptamine have come forward to give interviews on it’s chemical make-up, interaction with humans, visionary effects, and implications for consciousness and reality.
If you’re interested in filmic visions of DMT there are two incredibly excellent films to check out.
Enter the Void is the story of a young man in Tokyo whose consciousness is ejected from his body when he is suddenly killed. The film takes place entirely from a first person point of view as the disembodied consciousness floats over Tokyo entering different buildings and lives in the course of choosing whether or not to reincarnate. The first 5 minutes of the film has a pretty decent DMT sequence.

Renegade (aka Blueberry in the U.S.) is another film that very accurately portrays a DMT experience. This one is by far the best visualization and sound design however the inspiration is a melange of ayahuasca and mescaline.
On a similar subject, 5-MeO-DMT, a similar chemical to N,N-DMT, has recently been scheduled by the U.S. government as an illegal substance. Here’s a little discussion on the difference between the two chemicals.
